The difference between what we know and what we think we know

Over the weekend I had been in D.C. with the discover club, there was a womens rights rally and I thought i'd take advantage of the crowd and ask around about stem cell research. Can you believe how many people were misinformed about it? They did not know that you COULD in fact collect stem cells from an aborted fetus, but at the same time they did not agree with stem cell research. How can you form an opinion about something you know absolutely nothing about?

Maybe that's where the problem lies, people vote no to something they have no real knowledge of. The benefit of stem cell research could be SO great, but how will we ever know if we don't allow scientists to explore the possibilities. Unfortunately, I did not get one person who actually wanted to talk about stem cells because they knew nothing about it, and wanted no knowledge of it. How can you shut your eyes to something that can impact the lives of many?

What if stem cell research were legal?

If stem cell research were legal maybe we'd have the cure to a lot of disease by now such as: cancer, MS, Aids, etc. If stem cell research were legal scientist could possibly use it to manipulate your DNA and could possibly cure anyone who has arthritis or any autoimmune disease. If only scientist were allowed to further their research they could possibly change a lot of people's lives.

Stem cell research is illegal because it is said to be immoral, however, what's so immoral about it? I understand it comes from a fetus that has been aborted, but people STILL get abortions so why can't we just use the aborted fetus's and give them more meaning then to just throw them out. I may not completely understand how they gather stem cells, but it seems to me a lot of good can come out of this. I feel like it'll give the aborted fetus's meaning
